Patal Pani is a site of scenic waterfalls that lay enhancing the naturally endowed beauty of this small and isolated region and now famous as one of the popular excursion destination from Indore. Located at a distance of 36 km from Indore city, Patal Pani is the small station next to the town of Mhow on the meter gauge track towards Khandwa.
Several tourist head towards Patal Pani to admire the water cascading from 150 feet above and plunging into a natural reservoir, the depth is which is still unknown. It is said that the depth reaches down to ‘Patal’ the Hindi word meaning ‘Hell’ and the name of the town was also derived from this mythological legend. The accumulated water in the Kund (reservoir) is considered sacred by the local people.
Now developed as a major tourist destination, Patal Pani shall be reached by regular Bus services that ply to & from Indore. Tourists may also avail hired cars that takes them from Indore to Patal Pani.
